Forest Bathing Sessions
About:
Hi, my name is Katie, and I am a trained Forest Bathing Guide with The Forest Bathing Institute.
Nature has always been my sanctuary, offering me a sense of peace and connection as I follow the changing seasons. Spending time outdoors gives me perspective, especially during busy or stressful times. I would love to be able to facilitate a space for others to also benefit from the positive effects nature brings and that is why I chose to become a fully qualified Forest Bathing Guide.
So... what is Forest Bathing?
I would best describe Forest Bathing as a slow walk through nature, with some sensory exercises along the way, allowing our body and mind to slow down and breathe in the forest air, resisting the urge to enter into our fight or flight and breathe in the fresh forest air. These sessions usually last between 2-3 hours and in that time we won't usually cover that much distance.
Forest Bathing originates from the Japanese ‘Shinrin Yoku’ (Forest Bath / Shower) and is now an optional part of Japanese Health Care System. Some benefits of forest bathing include: reduced stress, improved sleep & memory, lower blood pressure, stronger immune system response and generally improved mood.
